Fox VS 12 Gauge

Yesterday I spent the evening with some friends playing cards, when returning home I noticed tracks in the fresh snow from what appeared to be 3-5 foxes.
I've had bait out for the last month or so and it has been plenty of fox around so I wasn't very suprised.
I have a small room next to my bedroom where I leave the window open and the door not completely closed, my shotgun is on the wall outside this room, of course whith the proper choke installed.
I stayed in bed watching a tv show I have on dvd, lazy I know..
Went to the window and had a peak at the bait from time to time and midway through second episode I saw movement, this was about 4am.
Tip toed out of the bedroom, loaded the 12 gauge and sneaked into the other room taking aim out the window, but the fox went into some bushes. I could still see him but wasn't 100% sure about the shot so I stayed still while my heart was thumping like crazy.
The little I did see of the fox then disappeared but I still did not move as they often come back to the bait, after a minute or so a fox approaches the bait from another direction and stops, poor thing didn't know what hit her and didn't move at all.
Lovely fur and about 6 kilo so quite nice size.
Not sure if I saw one fox or two different ones last night but tracks sure suggest there is more of them about so maybe next weekend.
